Solar Powered WavTex™

Entex’s Solar Powered WavTex is a self-contained WavTex biological treatment module using solar power for energy. Similar to WavTex, Solar Powered WavTex modules feature Entex’s proven EnTextile attached growth media, however aeration is supplied to the biomass via a solar powered blower. Thus, the module can be used in remote areas with little access to a local power source or without funding for typical operating blower costs. With the solar powered system, no blower building, air distribution piping, or valving is required since the blower and solar panels are mounted on the floating WavTex module. The modules can be easily moved around a wastewater pond as needed.

The system is diurnal and provides BOD treatment, nitrification, and denitrification. During the day, the energy collected by the solar panels power the blower, providing air to consume carbon waste and convert the ammonia waste into nitrate. During the night, with no power to drive the blowers, the nitrate molecules generated during daylight are further converted to atmospheric nitrogen. Unlike other in-pond systems, this alternating daylight/nighttime process completely converts ammonia to atmospheric nitrogen, providing complete nutrient removal.

Even where denitrification is not required, this cycle saves energy by recovering oxygen plus restoring alkalinity needed for nitrification. Thus, the cycle maximizes the high efficiency and effectiveness of the process. It also provides excellent mixing and additional dissolved oxygen to the rest of the lagoon or pond.

How the Solar WavTex System Treats Wastewater Daytime and Nighttime

Solar Powered WavTex is modular, easily movable, and self-contained

The solar panels are mounted in an A-frame configuration secured to the floating WavTex module. The blowers, blower motor, batteries, and voltage regulators are mounted underneath the panels for partial protection from the outdoor elements. These modules can be use alone or with additional modules depending on the amount of treatment required. Modules can be readily moved within the pond as each unit is floating.

Solar Powered WavTex uses Green Energy

The blowers are powered strictly from the renewable energy from the sunlight. No ongoing operating costs are required to power the blowers. The system continues providing treatment all day and night, and even with cloudy days.

Solar Powered WavTex require limited maintenance

No regular maintenance is required for the media or aeration, and only standard lubrication maintenance is needed for the blower.
