WavTex in water

Hybrid Media Systems

Hybrid media systems combine the flexibility and space efficiency of a moving media system with the ease of installation, operation and maintenance of a fixed media system. Entex’s WavTex modules arrive fully assembled with integrated coarse bubble aeration grids beneath their stainless-steel frames. The use of coarse bubble aeration eliminates the need for regular maintenance and the bottom frame eliminates the need for retention screens as the media cannot wash out. The fabric media is self-buoyant such that it stands and freely waves when placed in water. Since the frame is only tethered on the bottom of the module, the WavTex modules are easily retrofitted to lagoons or biomass reactors at any depth. The buoyant EnTextile hybrid media has a high biologically active surface area and provides nearly complete simultaneous nitrification/denitrification.

Hybrid media features

  • Can be used in aerobic or anoxic zones
  • Integrated aeration
  • 1,156 m2/m3 protected biologically active surface area
  • IFAS and SFF process modes
  • No media retention screens required, no risk of media escape
  • Units can be floated
  • Near complete simultaneous nitrification/denitrification in the aerobic zone
